The works began in February 2022 and involve the renewal of 47 km of tracks between Tapiales and Marinos del Crucero General Belgrano stations on the Belgrano Sur line.

In addition to the track renewal, it is worth noting the construction of a 1.5 km viaduct section with two railway bridges and an at-grade crossing.

It also includes the renewal of vehicle and pedestrian level crossings, station upgrades by building new platforms, and the renovation of the Marinos del Crucero General Belgrano station. Finally, perimeter fences will be constructed along the entire route.

The works are divided into four sections, which we will oversee both in the executive projects and during the execution of the works.

Section 1:

  • 8 km of track to be renewed
  • 1.5 km of new track on a viaduct
  • 47 new track switches
  • 2 bridges (4 decks) over Gorriti Street and LGR
  • New underpass at Castro Barros Street (La Matanza)
  • One vehicular level crossing to be renewed
  • Construction of a new platform at Tapiales Station
  • Hydraulic normalization at stations (Tapiales – Bonzi)

As of October 2023, this section has a work progress of 60%. The most important milestones include the completion of the two railway bridges over Gorriti Street and LGR, as well as the railway bridges for the underpass. The level crossing on Defensa Street has been renewed. Four tracks at Tapiales Station and four tracks at Bonzi Station have been renewed.

Both stations have been hydraulically normalized. The earth-reinforced viaduct has been constructed to 80%. Eight new track switches have been installed.

Section 2:

  • 14.7 km of track to be renewed
  • 16 new track switches
  • 4 works of art to be renewed (3 culverts and 1 bridge)

  • Hydraulic normalization of 4 stations

As of October 2023, this section has a work progress of 70%. The most important milestones include the completion of 3 out of 4 level crossings to be renewed and 1 out of 2 level crossings to be improved.

Two out of four works of art have been completed, with one culvert nearing completion and the bridge construction work having started. The installation of 4 out of 16 track switches for this section has been carried out.

The track renewal has been completed for almost the entire route, with approximately 700 meters of the third track remaining at the Isidro Casanova station yard. The hydraulic normalization of the four stations—Mendeville, Jose Ingeniero, Justo Villegas, and Isidro Casanova—has been carried out.

Section 3:

  • 13.4 km of track to be renewed
  • 7 new track switches
  • 7 vehicular level crossings to be renewed
  • 1 vehicular level crossing to be improved
  • 1 work of art to be renewed
  • Additional work: 5.3 km of perimeter fencing and construction of 6 pedestrian crossings.

As of October 2023, this section has a work progress of 95%, including both the base work and additional tasks. The remaining tasks are to install the track switches, complete 1 pedestrian crossing, and finish the perimeter fencing.

Section 4:

  • 9 km of track to be renewed
  • 6 km of new track to be constructed
  • 19 new track switches
  • 21 works of art to be intervened
