Origins
SEG originated in Spain at the beginning of the 1980s, an important time as our country was beginning the process of joining what was initially called the EEC. Prior to that founding, several engineers who later became part of SEG had already started their professional careers, beginning to build their professional reputation that they later incorporated into our companies.
Modernization
Those years at the end of the 20th century were years of intense work to modernize the country, with SEG focusing on the development of road, rail, and airport projects that contributed to improving much-needed infrastructure.
Investment
With the arrival of the 21st century, in addition to addressing the growing need for infrastructure and the increase in public investment, we began a period of international expansion , characterized by unique projects. Projects were developed in countries such as Italy, Morocco, Angola, and Romania.
Infrastructure
During this period in Spain, one of the times with the greatest public investment in infrastructure occurred, enabling SEG to participate in several of the most significant programs or projects in Spain’s history, such as airport expansion plans, high-speed rail, metro extensions in major cities, highways, motorways, the implementation of penitentiary centers and hospitals, or the improvement in the integrated water cycle management.
Expansion
After the initial years of this century, that initial seed of international expansion began to consolidate, and different branches were established in Latin American countries, with a strong desire on our part to contribute our experience to the emblematic projects being developed in the great American continent. And we opened offices in Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Chile, Argentina… these were years of strong international activity for our companies.
Advances
This period leads to our current reality: SEG has more than 40 years of existence, a permanent presence in more than 14 countries, with over 3,000 successful references in the fields of civil engineering and architecture, and with a desire for much more. Above all, with a desire to be part of the change that this sector of engineering and architecture is experiencing and in which we want to be an active part.

We have a large team of professionals in a wide variety of areas, as well as an extensive network of collaborators who bring us value in very specific fields.

SEG is a civil engineering company whose main activities focus on airports, railways, roads, water supply and sanitation, large-scale building projects, and ports. These projects cover the design, construction, and operation phases, as well as Project Management frameworks. Our range of work includes feasibility studies, preliminary designs, full projects, geotechnical and environmental studies, risk assessments, expropriation documentation, economic feasibility analyses, construction management, site supervision, independent engineering, and expert reports.

Our History: Over 40 years of experience, 2,700 successfully completed projects, 700 clients across three continents, and… we’re on to the fourth! We embrace the responsibility of continuing the path others started, working every day with professionalism, dedication, and enthusiasm, while growing as individuals. Earning our clients’ trust is our greatest challenge.

Just like in life itself, engineering presents us with very interesting challenges every day where we also always want to give our best. Challenges motivate us, help us grow, and push us to build a team, something fundamental for us. Many things about my work motivate me, among which I would especially highlight the support I receive from the company’s management, knowing that from my area I contribute to the company growing and being a little better every day.

From our new internal organization model, we coordinate all our international branches and subsidiaries through effort and the creation of new applications that improve our control and efficiency for each team member, always with a view to new improvement processes.

SEG believes that committing to business ethics is absolutely essential for its activity, which should not be limited to strict compliance with legislation, but should extend to excellence in its performance and be subject to a series of values and principles that must govern any of its actions.
THE SEG CODE IDENTIFIES THE STANDARD OF CONDUCT THAT ITS MEMBERS MUST OBSERVE IN THEIR PERFORMANCE AND BUSINESS ACTIVITY, SETTING OUT THE PRINCIPLES AND VALUES OF BUSINESS BEHAVIOR, AS WELL AS THE EXPRESS AND PUBLIC COMMITMENT OF THE SEG GROUP TO THEM.
The intended consequence of the Code is that its members and Stakeholders – administrators, employees, managers, collaborators, suppliers, advisors, and clients of SEG – (hereinafter all of them, “SEG stakeholders”) know it and commit to its content.

Since 2022, SEG has been a member of the Global Compact, establishing a firm commitment to the 10 universal principles on human rights, labor standards, the environment, and the fight against corruption. Therefore, our strategy is oriented towards contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This commitment has materialized in the definition of a CSR Policy that establishes its principles of action in sustainability.
Compliance
SEG believes that committing to business ETHICS is absolutely essential for its activity, which should not be limited to strict compliance with legislation, but should extend to excellence in its performance and be subject to a series of values and principles that must govern any of its actions.
The SEG Code of Conduct identifies the behavior that its members must observe in their performance and business activity, setting out the principles and values of business behavior, as well as SEG’s express and public commitment to them.
In addition, it has established a Whistleblowing Channel as a tool for both employees and stakeholders to communicate with the organization on matters related to compliance.
SEG has a Compliance Committee, reporting directly to the Board of Directors, which analyzes any complaint received through the Whistleblowing Channel in a completely confidential manner.

Integrated Management System
SEG has established a commitment to the quality of the services it provides, the conservation of the environment, the safety and health of its workers, and the promotion of innovation in both its processes and its activities.
For this reason, SEG Group has established an Integrated Management System, in accordance with the ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and UNE 166002 standards, certified by AENOR.
Through its Policy, SEG defines its commitments and establishes the principles of action.

At SEG, Smart Engineering Group, we are committed to the use of new technologies, with a specific R&D&i department.
Our fundamental purpose is the search for applications and innovative technical solutions to the multiple problems that our clients may pose (preventive maintenance, real-time data collection, on-site monitoring and control, development of specific apps, among many others...).

GEOTECHNICAL BOREHOLE LOGGING APP
At SEG we are developing a new application for the processing and management of information generated during the logging of boreholes by the Geotechnics department.
In this case, they carry out the following tasks:
- GEOTEC platform update: The software available to generate documentation was estimated to be 30 years old, requiring its update and interconnection with modern databases. In turn, the existing interface has been modernized.
- Real-time information control: The application allows the real-time flow of data from its submission on mobile platforms, working on the Office 365 cloud server. There is real-time interconnection between GEOTEC and the APPGEO application (PowerApps).
- In the future, offline functionality for logging at the borehole truck.

ACTION PLAN FOR THE USE OF DRONES
At SEG, we have carried out an action plan to study the feasibility of using drones in different fields of our engineering.
The applications of this device include, among others:
- Aerial topography: Topographic surveys, point cloud generation for 2D and 3D modeling. Access to difficult or dangerous areas for carrying out surveys .
- Architecture. Architectural engineering. Building inspection and maintenance. Generation of ITE reports.
- Engineering: 3D models for bid presentations, BIM designs, project planning and designs. Carrying out traffic and transportation studies. Inspection of infrastructures and constructions.
- Construction: Supervision of work progress, measurements for economic control. Monitoring of safety measures. Control of transport.
- Urban planning: Modeling Geographic Information Systems. Design of new plans. Inspection of growth. Soil classification. Cadastral surveying.
- Land surveying: Management of changes in land use and occupation. Precision agriculture. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles for Engineering, Construction, and Maintenance work.
- Electricity: Management of electrical grids, inspections, monitoring of special operations.
- Oil and gas: Production and refinery management. Integrity management of oil and gas pipelines. Management of prospecting and construction works.
- Public Safety: o Firefighting o Security forces: Public safety, control of large events, traffic, infractions, etc. o Rescue services. o Disaster management and public rescue.
- Forest and water resources management. Environmental control.
- Monitoring of natural phenomena.
- Cinematography and event photography.

BANK AGGREGATION APPLICATION
We are developing a new application for financial control and bank aggregation at the SEG group level.
In this case, the application’s functionalities focus on multiple activities and/or processes derived from bank aggregation, such as the daily download of bank transactions and the publication of instant flows that help the Financial Department have a daily updated view of its financial position.

NEW APPLICATION FOR VEHICLE BOOKING
We are developing a new application for vehicle booking within the different areas of the company, updated to the new times and technological developments that we currently have at our disposal, and it has the following functions:
- Making vehicle reservations electronically by functional area
- Introduction of reservation data and linking to databases for cost allocation by department
- Vehicle incident logging

NEW APPLICATION FOR INVENTORY IN LINEAR WORKS
We are developing a new application focused on field data collection tasks related to inventories in the field of linear works.
The following functions, among others, are expected from this application:
- Real-time and geolocated data management
- Generation of standard construction documentation (including possible signature)
- Infrastructure management and/or maintenance via mobile device
- On-site technical assistance management
- Offline functionality in case of lack of coverage

I-RESOURCES AND POWER BI INTEGRATION
We are developing a new application in Power BI focused on obtaining project reports for the current program, defining the necessary KPIs for their determination and accounting monitoring. In general, reports that allow, visually, each of the departments to make decisions and manage finances.

STRUCTURAL INSPECTION AND SURVEY APPLICATION
At SEG, we have developed a new application for the processing and management of information from structural inspections and/or surveys, updated to the new times and technological developments that we currently have at our disposal.
In this case, the application has the following functionalities:
- Management of photographic reports: The software differentiates according to the field work topology carried out and creates an ordered and coded folder tree.
- Real-time information control: The application allows the real-time flow of data from its submission on mobile platforms, working on the Office 365 cloud server.
- Generate documentation: The application allows the automatic generation of a record for each of the works carried out.
